Welcome to Mr. Garduño's Math website. This year I will be teaching Pre-Calculus to the 11th grade students, as well as an Algebra 2 remediation and Trigonometry course. Please take the time to visit this website, where you will find the syllabus, grade policies, rules and expectations, needed supplies, and links that will help you succeed in this very demanding and rigorous course. If you need to contact me, please email me at [email protected] or call, text or leave a voicemail at 303-596-6289.
I received my Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from Tecnológico de Monterrey, Campus Monterrey. I have been teaching Mathematics for 22 years; I started teaching Calculus in Cuernavaca, Mexico in 1993 at the Centro de Aprendizaje y Desarrollo (CAD). I taught there for about 16 years, everything from Algebra 1, Trigonometry, Algebra 2, Analytic Geometry, Differential Calculus, Integral Calculus, Statistics, and Computer Science. After that I taught at Tecnológico de Monterrey, Campus Cuernavaca for three years; I taught everything from Algebra 1 to Calculus as well as a Math Remediation course to college freshmen.
In July, 2011 I moved to Denver and taught at STRIVE Prep's Federal Campus (8th grade Algebra two years and 7th grade Pre Algebra one year). I am very happy to go back to teaching High School Math and look forward to seeing many of my first students in Denver again as Juniors.
I am originally from Mexico City (Distrito Federal) and also lived in Monterrey, Nuevo León and Cuernavaca, Morelos. I use to train and teach Taekwondo and was an International Referee for 10 years. I represented Mexico as a referee in competitions in Egypt (1998), Japan (2002 Tokyo World Cup) and South Korea (2004 World Junior Championships). My hobbies are hiking, geocaching (a real life treasure hunt), swimming, and playing video games on my Pikachu Special Edition Nintendo 3DS XL or on the PS3.
I live with my family in Lakewood, very close to the mountains. My wife is a professional translator who has worked over the past ten years translating TV and movie scripts for dubbing and subtitles, mainly for Disney and 20th Century Fox. This year she will be switching her career and going back to teaching. She is very excited to teach AP Spanish Literature and Culture this year at STRIVE Prep SMART Academy. My son, Pablo, will be going to Denver School of the Arts as a freshman this Fall, where he will focus in the Video Cinema Arts. He also plays the guitar and goes to the Denver School of Rock, where he has played several shows including one at Red Rocks Amphitheater. My daughter, Natalia, will be going into 7th grade at Bear Creek K-8. She loves reading, swimming, art and plans on attending Denver School of the Arts when she gets to High School. Her artwork has been displayed in the Jeffco Schools Foundation Art Show three years in a row.
